Temporary return

I hit a big problem upgrading my Wordpress self-hosted blog so have returned here for now. I may even keep this here and use my own hosting account for something completely different.

Cars are supposed to make your life easier - yes?

I was out driving my son to find new footie boots. I glanced at the petrol gauge which looked low but there was no warning light (I can usually get another 15 - 20m when it lights up).

On a busy main road into town and the car died on me. I ended up half on the pavement just after a roundabout, not the safest place. Hubby and dad came to push me round the corner and now hubby has gone to get some petrol to see if that is what's wrong before I call the RAC.

Hope that it is just lack of petrol. Can't afford big car repair bill just now.

Neo again...

Here he is, stood on top of my TV because behind the curtain is the open window that he keeps trying to get out of - bear in mind this is the bedroom window upstairs!

NB The TV was showing an ad for the film TransAmerica

The Greenhouse

My original greenhouse - pretty small eh?

The empty space after the old shed was demolished

Mum & Dad putting up the frame

Fitting the glass - it was like a jigsaw puzzle

The finished product.

I've now put some plants in, the chilli plant that hasn't been doing so well outside, the tomato plants are in a grow bag and I've planted a pot with some strawberry shoots and set some lettuce growing to see if it will :-)

The cats love it and I'm planning all the stuff I'm going to grow next year. Still debating over a grape vine but I have read of some that do well in pots that I might try in the greenhouse.

Naughty Neo

He's a mischief maker! We've had to cat-proof the back garden since he came, none of our other cats were ever such escape artists. I though it was secure but he jumped from the top of the garden swing into the hedge. So I have now re-arranged the back garden so he can no longer do that. Bad boy but soooo loveable...

Summer Days

School holidays are always a bit topsy turvey. Because I don't have to get up I often find it's gone 9am (if not later) before I get dressed which is no good when you really should be doing some work. I also lose track of which day it is - for instance, today was bin men day and I only realised as I heard the bin lorry beeping backwards down the road. So it was a mad dash to get the bin bags out before the lorry went away again.

Monday I went to visit a friend in hospital. I only found out Saturday that she'd had a mild stroke and a tumour or something removed from her brain two weeks ago. It was a shock to hear about it and a greater shock to see her. She was always thin but she seemed lost in the hospital bed. She was kind of herself but you could tell she was a little confused about things still after the op. All she really wanted to do was go home but that is not going to happen for some weeks yet. I'm glad I went but I felt horrid leaving her alone in a hospital 25m away from home while I went back to my life.

Tuesday was 'get son ready for camp' day. He did actually pack everything himself from the list we get from the scout leader. I just had to hunt out his PJs because he was adamant that he didn't have any.

Wednesday was 'take son to camp' day. I don't like motorway driving so ended up on the A roads and got a little lost. Still, we got there in the end and then me and daughter called at a Starbucks on the way home for a cinammon bun - mmmmm. Picked one up for mum too and when we dropped it off for her she gave me the local paper to read - and guess what - Starbucks is opening in our local city so I don't have to travel 25m for a cinammon bun in future!

Today is 'catch up' day. I was tired after all the driving yesterday but couldn't sleep natch so I'm tired again today. Anyhow, I've tidied the bedroom, strimmed the lawn/jungle and cleaned up in the kitchen. Me and daughter just had dinner and I'm now contemplating what to do next. I should go in the office and sort out some competitions I want to enter (writing ones) or I could get that marketing book out and plan Michael's business stuff for him - or maybe mine lol. Alternatively I could do some of those photoshop tutorials I've bookmarked or do some of my own business paperwork. I do need to remember to put all contacts in my Business manager software, I've had a few from Studentgems.com that I should note down for future reference. Really all I want to do is get a cushion and lie on the garden swing and go to sleep.
